북 "남측 차후 태도따라"…군사행동 보류이어 남북관계에 '여지'

Let's start with the latest on inter-Korean relations.
Surprising many due to the speed at which it happened, North Korea appears to be shifting away from its latest streak of aggression,... pulling back from its latest military actions aimed at South Korea.
Adding to that,... a senior North Korean official says the regime's further actions could depend on Seoul's attitude and approach going forward.
Kim Hyo-sun reports.
Is North Korea putting the brakes on its latest military actions towards South Korea,... shifting away from its recent provocative stance?
Such hope comes as the vice chairman of the North's ruling party's Central Committee, Kim Yong-chol, said in a statement Wednesday that now is a "critical moment" during which the regime can predict the prospects of cross-border ties based on "the future attitude and approach" of Seoul.
He also explained that the regime has halted a series of actions that it had been planning against the South.
The official is probably referring to the removal of propaganda loudspeakers that had been reinstalled along the border just days ago as well as the deletion of anti-South Korea articles from its state-run media outlets.
Pundits forecast Pyeongyang could also suspend its plan to send some 12 million anti-Seoul propaganda leaflets over the border,... which the regime had hinted would be sent over via some 3-thousand balloons,... in a tit-for-tat move against leaflets sent from the South.
All these developments came swiftly after the North's ruling party mouthpiece, the Rodong Sinmun said Wednesday that the regime's leader Kim Jong-un had instructed to hold off on military action plans against the South.
While it's left to be seen what the regime's next moves are,... experts in South Korea predict it would devise response strategies against the South by closely monitoring Seoul's North Korea policies, including its regulation on anti-Pyeongyang propaganda leaflets.
