Excavated by North Korea alone, 70 of these... were sent by North Korea to the U.S. in the early 90s, and 77 of them... in 2018 after Kim Jong-un's first summit with President Trump.
The remains were carefully transported to South Korea, laid on seats inside a KC-330 aerial tanker.
And on Thursday, June 25th the annivesary of the outbreak of the Korean War South Korea is holding a commemorative event titled "Salute to Heroes" to welcome them.
The event will be held with the highest level of veneration and decorum, with the late heroes to be welcomed by President Moon Jae-in himself.
Video messages will be played from the leaders of 22 countries that were part of UN Command during the war, including U.S. President Donald Trump and Britain's Queen Elizabeth II.
Also to commemorate the Korean War, the defense chiefs of South Korea and the U.S. issued a joint statement Thursday at 4AM that's when the war broke out.
Seoul's Defense Minister Jeong Kyeong-doo and U.S. Secretary of Defense Mark Esper paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives some seven decades ago.
They added that the two countries' alliance, born out of necessity and forged in blood,... remains the foundation for security and stability in the region.
They reaffirmed their "ironclad" commitment to further deepening their bilateral security cooperation... and strengthening their combined defense posture on the Korean Peninsula.
