K팝 아이돌- 세계 각국 팬, 세계 최대 K컬쳐 콘서트 언택트 ‘KCON’ 에서 만나다

COVID-19 is still gripping the whole world,... but that shouldn't stop us from enjoying culture.
Korea's biggest culture festival is heading online this year, and fans around the world will be able to meet their idols and enjoy seven days of culture and K-pop.
Our Kim Bo-kyoung tells us more.
This year, Korea's biggest culture festival is going online.
'KCON:TACT 2020 SUMMER' features 33 K-pop artists, with one concert a day for seven days.
The festival also includes other digital content on Korean lifestyle, such as beauty and food, and will be streamed on Youtube until June 26.
"While viewing the live contents of KCON:TACT 2020 SUMMER, you can enjoy spectacular K-pop concerts in virtual space based on AR and VR technologies specialized for online and mobile.
Online fan meetings will let fans chat with their favorite artists online, using visual effects and AR technology.
Fans from around the world, such as this fan from Canada, are excited about being able to join in with the festival.
"They had a chance to do one-on-one interaction with the call through Zoom, so they were able to pick a fan and the fan got to ask their questions towards their favorite idols. It's a much more affordable option for those fans who can't travel to those venues, spend money on hotels and everything that goes on behind the scene just trying to get to the venue."
A culture critic says such online festivals need to embrace new technology to really stand out from the crowd.
"Online concerts could struggle to attract new fans,... so marketing and promotion are needed. Also, like the recent online concert 'Beyond Live' by SM Entertainment,... differentiated visuals using technology such as augmented reality could be a fresh approach."
Even when regular concerts return, these virtual live events could be an additional way for artists to connect with their fans all across the world.
