Prosecutors summoned Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong , for questioning in relation to the 2015 merger of two Samsung affiliates.
Lee appeared before prosecutors from 8 AM Tuesday, as the merger of Samsung C&T and Cheil Industries was put under scrutiny.
There were suspicions that management may have intentionally lowered the value of Samsung C&T to help Lee secure control of the company, as he was the largest shareholder of Cheil Industries.
There are also allegations surrounding an what was perceived as an intentional inflation in the value of Cheil Industries ahead of the merger.
Samsung earlier said that it has never deliberately manipulated the value of any of its affiliates.
