Prosecutors to summon former defense chief over political meddling probe

Prosecutors will summon former defense minister Kim Kwan-jin for questioning on Tuesday morning over suspicions the military tried to cover up an internal probe of alleged political meddling by the nation's cyberwarfare unit.
It's believed Kim was behind attempts between 2010 and 2012 to downgrade an in-house probe into the unit's meddling in favor of the then-conservative government of Lee Myung-bak.
Prosecutors raided Kim's home late last week regarding the matter.
This is seen as round two of the investigation -- as a former military investigator recently indicated that Kim issued direct orders to the internal probe.
The reopening of the case comes just three months after Kim was released after spending eleven days in detention for his alleged involvement in illegal cyber activities under the former Lee Myung-bak administration.
