The World Health Organization has warned that easing COVID-19 restrictions and reopening economies too quickly could lead to a "vicious cycle" of economic and health disasters.
The executive director of the WHO's emergencies program, Mike Ryan, said reopening the economy in the presence of a high degree of virus transmission would lead to an acceleration of the virus' spread.
He claimed it's a "false equation" to choose between the economy and public health.
