The head of the World Meteorological Organization says the COVID-19 pandemic is expected to drive global CO2 emissions down 6-percent this year,... in what would be the biggest yearly drop since World War Two.
Petteri Taalas attributed the drop to a lack of emissions from transportation and industrial energy production.
He stressed the drop will not be enough to stop climate change,... and urged governments to integrate climate action into their respective recovery plans.
He also warned that past recoveries have also led to even higher emissions than before the crisis.
