President Moon holds meeting to discuss ways to create fairer education system in S. Korea

President Moon Jae-in has identified the overriding importance of reforming South Korea's education system based on fairness,... eliminating the influence of social status and privileges once and for all.
President Moon was chairing a meeting in Seoul this morning with government officials, including Education Minister Yoo Eun-hae, to discuss reforms the first such meeting he's held since taking office.
It comes just three days after he highlighted the importance of improving the college admission system in his budget speech at the National Assembly.
At the center of the plan is increasing the proportion of regular admissions for college,... which focuses more on academic test scores instead of extracurricular activities.
However, as that isn't considered enough, the president says there also needs to be a more impartial screening of students' records.
He ordered officials to come up with relevant measures by November.
