President Moon calls for better democracy at event commemorating Busan-Masan Democratic Protests

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Busan-Masan Democratic Protests... and the national held its first commemorative ceremony of the protests today.
During the ceremony,... President Moon Jae-in revisited the idea of democracy, saying the people are now calling for further advancements in the country's democracy.
"Together with the people, we will move forward to create a democracy where people can truly become the owners of the nation, where national achievement translates to better livelihoods for the people."
He called on the nation's government institutions.... to bear in mind that they exist to serve the people.
Moon also promised that the government will provide compensation to the victims of the protests,... and expressed his condolences and apologies for the human rights violations that occurred.
