California's largest utility PG&E begins power outage due to wildfire threat
  • 5 years ago
Hundreds of thousands of people in California will be without electricity through Thursday.
California's largest utility, Pacific Gas and Electric, had shut off power to more than 800-thousand customers across Central and Northern California as of Wednesday morning.
They are trying to reduce the risk of wildfires caused by dry and windy conditions.
According to local reports, citizens have secured emergency rations and batteries for the blackout, and long lines of cars were spotted at gas stations.
Utilities malfunctions have sparked some of the state's most deadliest fires, including last year's Camp Fire.
