Moon to attend UN General Assembly and meet with Trump

President Moon Jae-in will be heading to New York this month to attend the UN General Assembly and hold summits on the sidelines with the leaders of major countries.
His trip comes as the nuclear negotiators of North Korea and the U.S. work to arrange working-level talks in the coming weeks.

Perhaps moving the needle a little closer to peace on the Korean Peninsula,... South Korean President Moon Jae-in will be attending the annual UN General Assembly in New York in the last week of September -- where he'll also be sitting down with his American counterpart Donald Trump.

"President Moon Jae-in will be visiting New York to attend the 74th UN General Assembly session for five days from the 22nd of September until the 26th. And the president will be delivering a keynote speech at the General Assembly on the 24th."

The spokesperson cautiously projected that the trip to New York indicates that the inter-Korean peace drive is picking up speed.
When Moon meets with Trump,... the leaders will likely discuss steps for the North to take towards denuclearization and corresponding steps to take in return.
The details are still being worked out, but it'll be Moon and Trump's first face-to-face since late June in Seoul and their ninth to date.
There's also the possibility of a brief encounter between the leaders of South Korea and Japan on the sidelines of the UN... as Prime Minister Shinzo Abe had previously announced that he will be attending the event as well.
Some even suggest the possibility of a three-way summit meeting of the leaders of South Korea, the U.S. and Japan -- especially with Seoul having decided to stop sharing military intelligence with Tokyo, which Washington sees as affecting its security readiness on the Korean Peninsula.
The presidential office also announced that President Moon, while in New York, will hold sideline meetings with the leaders of major countries and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
He will also join an event to prepare for other summits -- namely, Partnering for Green Growth, or P4G, Global Goals 2030 and the UN Climate Action Summit.
