South Korea may officially remove Japan from its list of preferred trading partners as early as next week.
At a press briefing Monday, the trade ministry said it is in the final process of revising its strategic material export import control guidelines.
The trade ministry had announced the measure in August and the 20 day-public opinion-gathering process ended last Tuesday.
Removing Japan from the list would mean stricter conditions for Japanese firms to import strategic goods from South Korea... and a longer approval process from the Korean government.
Tokyo, announced new export curbs on Seoul in July, and removed it from its trade whitelist on August 28th, citing an alleged lack of export controls on South Korea's part.
