The Japanese newspaper Mainichi Shimbun reported on Monday that most Japanese people support Tokyo's decision to take South Korea off its whitelist of trusted trading partners.
At the same time, it said most Japanese people want to see dialogue to resolve the trade dispute between the two countries.
In a nationwide poll last week, sixty-four percent of Japanese people showed their support for South Korea's removal from Japan's trade whitelist, while fifty-seven percent said Tokyo needs to engage South Korea diplomatically over the trade dispute.
Japan took Korea off its trade whitelist in late August.
