North Korea has shifted the target of its condemnations from South Korea to the U.S., blaming Washington for making the situation on the Korean Peninsula worse by pushing ahead with a joint military exercise with Seoul.
The North's Rodong Sinmun said today that Washington, despite its promise in Singapore to improve relations with the North, still keeps a hostile policy towards the regime.
It said the U.S. is continuing its "war rehearsals" and arms reinforcement, bringing in F-35A stealth fighter jets and Global Hawk surveillance drones.
The paper said that it's therefore legitimate for the regime to strengthen its self-defense and deploy what it called "powerful physical means."
