A North Korean man has been taken into custody by South Korean authorities after attempting to cross the border.
South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff says the man was spotted moving southward from the Imjin-gang River late Wednesday towards the Military Demarcation Line inside the DMZ.
A probe is under way on whether the man wants to defect as well as on how he was able to cross the border.
The military says there were no unusual movements by the North Korean military at the time.
