A North Korean soldier has been taken into custody by South Korean authorities after crossing the border late last night inside the DMZ.
South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff says the soldier was spotted moving southward along the Imjin-gang River late Wednesday having gone beyong the Military Demarcation Line.
During a probe, the North Korean soldier is said to have expressed his desire to defect to South Korea.
The military says there were no unusual movements by North Korean forces at the time.
