Other WTO member countries stay silent amid Seoul-Tokyo trade dispute
  • 5 years ago
South Korea and Japan clashed over the issue of Tokyo's export restrictions at a WTO meeting in Geneva on Wednesday,... but no other member countries got involved in the issue.
At the meeting, attended by some 160 countries, Seoul and Tokyo made remarks in turn, but no other countries spoke out to support either side.
Key members able to mediate the issue, including the U.S.,...stayed tightlipped during the heated talks.
Only the chairperson of the meeting mentioned that he hoped the two sides can find middle ground, considering the stark differences between the two.
