South Koreans' love for coffee is reflect in new industry data.
A report by the Hyundai Research Institute projects the local coffee industry's sales will hit 5-point-8 billion U.S. dollars by the end of the year.
That averages out to roughly 300 cups of coffee per person for the year,... which is three times the estimated global average.
Sales at coffee shops are forecast to reach 3-point-six billion dollars this year, while grocery stores, online and other retailers are looking at around two billion dollars.
The top three brands last year were the American franchise Starbucks, and local coffeehouses A Twosome Place and Ediya Coffee.
