New data shows the scale of the demographic challenge facing Korea.
According to recent data from Statistics Korea, the number of deaths will surpass the number of births in most parts of the nation by 2042.
Korea's productive working age population, which refers to people aged between 15 and 65,... will drop by 12 million in the next 30 years.
And by 2047, the data forecasts that people aged above 65 will make up more than 35 percent of the population in all 16 cities and provinces in the country except for the newly developed Sejong city.
