The South Korean cabinet has endorsed the nomination of the country's soon-to-be new prosecutor general, Yoon Seok-yeol.
Yoon was named by President Moon Jae-in on Monday as his replacement for Moon Moo-il, who retires next month.
The Cabinet approved his nomination this morning in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon,... as required by the Constitution.
After the President gives his approval,... Yoon's nomination will go to the National Assembly.
There'll be a hearing on his nomination,... but the president can appoint him even without the Assembly's approval.
The hearing has to be complete within 20 days after the request is sent, but lawmakers can get another ten days if they need it.
