Defense chiefs of S. Korea, Japan hold talks on sidelines of Shangri-La Dialogue

At the sidelines of the Shangri-La Dialogue meeting in Singapore on Saturday,... the defense chiefs of South Korea and Japan... met for the first time in eight months.
Seoul's defense ministry said the two sides agreed to hold working-level talks... to address the issue concerning Tokyo's allegations... that a South Korean warship had locked its radar onto a Japanese maritime patrol aircraft late last year.
The Seoul government has strongly denied these accusations.
Defense Minister Jeong Kyeong-doo stressed the need to abide by international laws,... including the 2014 Code for Unplanned Encounters at Sea.
They also exchanged views on strengthening security in Northeast Asia,... emphasizing the two countries' cooperation in achieving the denuclearization of North Korea.
