U.S. slows hiring of Chinese nationals by chip makers
  • 5 years ago
The United States is slowing approvals for its semiconductor companies to hire Chinese nationals for advanced engineering jobs,...a move that's being seen as an effort to prevent technology leakages.
According to the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday,...the U.S. Department of Commerce is closely reviewing the hiring process with other authorities including the State Department and the Pentagon.
The approval process, which used to take several weeks in the past,...now reportedly takes up to eight months.
The disruption, which began last year, has affected hundreds of jobs across the industry including at tech-heavyweight Intel and Qualcomm.
