President Moon emphasizes need to expand government expenditure at times when global economy slows down

President Moon Jae-in said it is the duty of the administration to increase government expenditure to boost the economy when times are tough.
He was speaking today in a meeting economy-related ministers, a meeting he chaired himself for the first time in ten months. Take a listen.
"In order to overcome reduced exports and investment due to slowing global economic growth, the government should actively take the lead by increasing support for exporting firms and boosting private investment."
The president also mentioned the need to boost consumer spending to drive the economy.
He said there was "good news for the economy..." in recent investments in the sectors of system semiconductors, displays, future cars and biohealth a trend he said needs to continue.
He also asked for parliament's support in implementing next year's budget.
