Cyclone Fani slams Indian coast, forcing millions to evacuate

Cyclone Fani, one of the most powerful storms to ever hit the country,... made landfall at around 8 a.m. local time on Friday,... killing at least 8 people.
Citing Indian state authorities,... AFP reported that some 160 people have been injured and that a million residents had to evacuate from the eastern state of Orissa.
The cyclone brought torrential rains and winds of up to 200 kilometers per hour... triggering floods and storm surges in many areas.
Numerous flights and train services in and out of the state have been cancelled, while schools and government offices have been closed.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said... 140 million U.S. dollars is being allocated for emergency relief.
