S. Korean court finds BMW, Mercedes-Benz guilty of fabricating emission tests

The Seoul Central District Court on Friday upheld its ruling against BMW Korea for fabricating emission tests.
It confirmed a fine of about twelve-and-a-half million U.S. dollars.
The court said the emissions appear to have been faked on purpose,... and so it upheld the prison sentences of up to ten months handed down to six employees.
On the same day, the court decided to slightly reduce a fine against Mercedes-Benz Korea.
It had also been found guilty of violating emissions-related certification procedures.
But it cut the fine by roughly 85-thousand dollars... to 2-point-3 million.
