대법, 이재용 '뇌물공여' 인정...박근혜•최순실도 '파기환송'

About an hour ago, South Korea's Supreme Court finally delivered its verdict on the corruption scandal that led to the impeachment and imprisonment of former President Park Geun-hye.
The focus was on whether horses and one-point-three million U.S. dollars that Samsung Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong gave to Park's confidante Choi Soon-sil were bribes.
For more we go live to our Choi Si-young who is front of the Supreme Court for us.
Si-young, what's the latest?
Devin, the court has found Samsung Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong guilty of the two bribes - horses and cash given to former President Park Geun-hye's confidante Choi Soon-sil.
He will sit for a retrial at the appeals court.
Samsung Electronics released a statement following the verdict saying "we are sorry we caused this trouble to the public and we will not repeat the same mistakes we made in the past."
And for President Park, the highest court asked the appeals to review her prison sentences because the lower court didn't review her bribery charges separately from the other charges she's facing.
Park will sit for a retrial at the appeal court.
For Park's confidante, Choi Soon-sil, the court also says her charges that she extorted money from local companies are not clearly proven and asked the lower court to review those charges.
So all of those involved in the corruption scandal go to a retrial at the appeals court. And so can you tell us what comes next? Are they facing more prison sentences? When are we gonna see the final ruling on this corruption scandal?
Well, Devin. Lee Jae-yong will sit for a retrial at the appeals court and this time he will likely get a prison sentence and not the suspended sentence as was the case earlier.
He will also likely get detained since the highest court says he is guilty of two bribes he gave to Choi Soon-sil.
Former President Park will also likely get another prison sentence at the appeals.
But. her confidante Choi Soon-sil will get her sentence reduced at the appeals because the highest court ruled she didn't extort money from local companies as previously charged.
And on the final ruling, we don't know when we will see the final verdict on the corruption scandal. I mean it could take at least months for all separate appeals courts for Park, Choi and Lee to give a ruling.
Some speculate we may just see a final ruling next year.
That will be all for today.
