Smaller scale joint drill kicks off, replacing Max Thunder exercise

South Korea and the U.S. have initiated a scaled-back joint air force drill in place of their usual Max Thunder annual exercise.
The two-week drill which kicked off on Monday... is said to involve South Korea's F-15K and KF-16 jets,... F-16 jets from the U.S... as well as Australia's E-7A Airborne Early Warning and Control aircraft.
South Korea and the U.S. had conducted the Max Thunder exercise since 2009,... but are thought to be holding the smaller scale drill to not disrupt the denuclearization and peace process on the Korean Peninsula.
