The government plans to focus on fostering the industries of non-memory semiconductors, bio, and future cars.
A Cheongwadae official told Yonhap News... that these fields are expected to lead the Moon administration's innovative growth plan... because South Korea has a competitive edge in them... and they also have the potential to create new jobs.
The official explained this is part of efforts to nurture a "first mover" local company that's a global leader.
It's also in line with the government's aim of making the nation a "pioneer" economy rather than one that tries to chase others.
