Kim Jong-un newly named as 'supreme commander of the Armed Forces'

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has been bestowed with yet another grand-sounding title... this time: the "supreme commander of the Armed Forces."
It's seen as part of efforts to further tighten his grip on power.
The North's state-run Korean Central News Agency used the new title in a report Tuesday... featuring Kim's visit to the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun... the mausoleum commemorating the regime's former leaders.
Watchers say North Korea has now officially stated that Kim holds the number one position in the regime's military and is not just its de facto ruler.
Previously he was the "supreme commander of the Korean People's Army."
It follows similar moves at North Korea's Supreme People's Assembly last week... where he acquired the title of the "supreme representative of all the Korean people and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission."
