U.S. designates Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps as terrorist group
  • 5 years ago
The United States has designated Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards Corps as a foreign terrorist group.
President Trump said in a statement released by the White House on Monday that the U.S. recognizes the reality that Iran is not just a state sponsor of terrorism but an active participant.
It's the first time the U.S. has designated a foreign government body as a terror group...and the move is likely to raise tensions in the Middle East.
In response, Iran's Supreme National Security Council said it has designated the U.S. Central Command, which overseas military operations in the Middle East, as a terrorist organization.
It's also the first time the U.S. has ever been labeled as a terror group by a foreign government.
