Signs of continuous operation at North Korea's enrichment facility: IAEA chief

The International Atomic Energy Agency is calling on its members to provide addition funding for the agency's safeguard activities.
Such funding, according to the head of the agency,... will help verify North Korea's nuclear program.

Speaking to the IAEA's Board of Governors on Monday,... the head of the agency,... Yukiya Amano stressed the importance of securing extra funds for safeguard activities,... which includes verifying North Korea's nuclear program.
Amano says the IAEA has monitored the regime's nuclear program,... using open source information and satellite imagery.
According to the information gathered,... the head of the IAEA says the agency hasn't seen indications of the operation of the 5 Megawatt electric Yeongbyeon reactor since early December,... and has not seen any reprocessing activities at the Radiochemical Laboratory.
However, Amano revealed the agency saw ongoing construction work at the light water reactor,... with the ongoing use of the reported centrifuge enrichment facility.
Due to the lack of on-the-ground access,... Amano said the IAEA cannot confirm the nature and purpose of such activities.
He said the IAEA continues to follow international developments on the North's nuclear issue,... adding he hopes it will lead to an agreement and the implementation of concrete denuclearization measures.
