While all the temples in and around the holy town, Tirupati are dedicated to Lord Venkateshwara, there is this one holy place dedicated to Lord Shiva. Tirupati has an ancient Shiva temple at Kapila Theertham.

1 Kapila Theertha is a beautiful Saivite temple located at Tirupati in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
2 The waters of a mountain stream fall directly into temple tank which gives the temple its name Kapila Theertham.
3 This famous Theertha sits at the entrance to a mountain cave in the Tirumala hills which are part of Seshachalam Hills.
4 In this temple, Lord Shiva is referred to as Kapileswara because the presiding deity was installed by Kapila Muni.
5 The main Lingam is believed to be self-manifested and there is a large stone carved statue of Nandi that greets the devotees at the entrance.
6 Also, the devotees have to take a dip in the holy waters of Kapila Theertham Pushkarini or sprinkle water on the head.
7 The annual festivals here are celebrated great splendour, especially the Kapileswara Swamy Brahmotsavam and Kartik Purnima.
8 Kapileswara Swamy Brahmotsavam is a nine-day event where the processional deities of Shiva-Parvathi are paraded on different Vahanas.
9 Kartik Purnima is an extremely auspicious occasion when all the Theerthas situated in the three world's are believed to merge into the Kapila Theertha.
10 There is a strong belief that anyone who bathes in the celestial waters at that favorable time will attain salvation.
11 The chant of the sacred mantra dedicated to Kapila Muni is believed to be beneficial while taking a dip. The mantra is;
" Ayanthi Sarva Theerdhaani Madhyahne Kaapilam Saraha"
