1 Trimbakeshwar (or Tryambakeshwar) is an ancient pilgrimage that hosts one of the 12 Jyotirlingas that is located in the state of Maharashtra.

2 The temple sits at the foot of three hills namely Brahmagiri, Nilagiri and Kalagiri in Nashik district. It is listed amongst the main holy places of India.

3 Here, the Jyotirlinga is manifested with three faces that symbolizes the iconic form of Trideva. This form of Lord Shiva is worshiped as Trimbak in the temple.

4 The Shiv-Linga is wrapped in jewels and covered by a golden mask with three faces illustrating Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh.

5 The current temple is a perfect example of the classic Maratha architecture as it was built in the 18th century by the third Peshwa ruler, Balaji Baji Rao (also called Nanasaheb).

6 The sacred river Godavari origins from Kusavarta Kunda in the temple of Trimbakeshwar adds to the sanctity of the temple.

7 Trimbakeshwar Simhastha is one of the four sacred places that the devotees traditionally attend on Kumbh Mela that is held once in 12 years.

8 It is believed that taking a dip in Kusavarta Kunda on this auspicious occasion wipes off the sins.
