1. Lord Swaminarayan, also known as Sahajanand Swami, was born on 3 April 1781 (Chaitra Sud 9, Samvat 1837) in Chhapaiya, a village near Ayodhya.
2. Lord Swaminarayan’s original name was Nilkanth Varni and he became a Sadhu at a very early age.
3. At the age of 11, he began a seven-year pilgrimage across India and on this journey he did welfare activities.
4. At the end of his journey, he settled in Gujrat and provide his service to the leader of Uddhav Sampraday.
5. Uddhav Sampraday was later changed to Swaminarayan Sampraday and Swaminarayan became the central figure in this modern sect of Hinduism, which is also believed to be a form of Vaishnavism.
6. Within this faith, Swaminarayan is worshiped as an incarnation of God - Narayana and is related to the Supreme Being.
