British PM May makes last-ditch effort to sell unpopular Brexit deal

British Prime Minister Theresa May has warned Brexit may never happen if lawmakers vote down her divorce deal negotiated with the EU.

Aram… nearly 24 hours left now until MPs vote on May's contentious Brexit deal…
That's right Mark… the clock is ticking and Mrs. May is making a last-ditch effort to win over a parliament that looks set to reject her proposed Brexit deal.
The prime minister and her EU counterparts exchanged letters giving assurances on her withdrawal agreement.
The key sticking point is the issue of customs rules along the Irish border after Brexit, and Mrs. May said the letters were legally binding.
"The letter from President Tusk confirms what I said in the House before Christmas namely that the assurances in the European Council conclusions have legal standing in the EU…."
She also made a final appeal to parliament, warning of a possible no-deal Brexit.
"Mr. Speaker with just 74 days until the 29th of March, the consequences of voting against this deal tomorrow are becoming ever clearer. With no deal we would have no implementation period, no security partnership, no guarantees for UK citizens overseas and no certainty for businesses and workers like those I met in Stoke this morning…."
However, the letters and May's last-ditch plea has done little to change the minds of skeptical MPs.
"….The government is in disarray. It's clear. If the prime minister's deal is rejected tomorrow, it's time for a general election, it's time for a new government."
The labour Party and other opposition parties have said they will vote against May's deal on Tuesday.
About a hundred of May's fellow Conservative MPs are expected to join them.
