No concrete proposals from British PM to break Brexit impasse: European Parliament President
  • 6 years ago
British Prime Minister Theresa May's hopes of reaching a Brexit deal with her EU counterparts is looking dimmer after a crunch summit failed to produce any fruitful results.
She addressed 27 other EU leaders in Brussels on Wednesday in an attempt to keep the Brexit deal alive.
However, European Parliament President Antonio Tajani said she expressed a will to move forward and reach an agreement but there was nothing substantively new in terms of content.
The day before the summit European Council chief Donald Tusk had urged May to come up with concrete proposals.
With no deal in place, the UK and the EU are proposing that Britain be tied to the EU for an extra year, which would extend the Brexit transition period to the end of 2021.
