S. Korea's food sales grow 2.3% to reach over US$80 billion in 2018

The local food industry grew 2-point-3 percent in 2018,... with sales of more than 80 billion U.S. dollars.
According to the Korea Rural Economic Institute report, processed grain products, animal feed and manufactured food products led the industry's growth.
Five-point-four billion dollars of food was exported in the first nine months of the year, while imports for the same period went up 6 percent to nearly 10-point-9 billion dollars.
Instant meals garnered greater popularity in Korea, while beverages saw increased demand overseas, particularly in Asian markets.
