S. Korea officially announces its plan to shut down "comfort women" foundation

South Korea has officially announced its decision to shut down the Tokyo-funded "comfort women" foundation,... which was established under the former Park Geun-hye administration to support the victims of Japan's wartime sex slavery.
The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family said on Wednesday,... that it has been coordinating with the foreign ministry and relevant organizations on how to proceed with dissolving the Reconciliation and Healing Foundation.
After the announcement, it will push forward with legal procedures required for the shut down.
It will also gather opinions from the victims and various organizations on how to settle the remaining foundation fund of 5-point-1 million U.S. dollars,... and the gender equality fund of more than 9 million dollars.
