Two Koreas begin joint waterway inspection on Hangang and Imjingang rivers for peaceful use of estuaries

Starting this afternoon, South and North Korea are going to begin a joint field survey on the peaceful use of river estuaries.
The inspection is part of September's comprehensive inter-Korean military agreement,.. where the two sides agreed to jointly use the Hangang and Imjingang river estuaries along the inter-Korean border region.
According to Seoul's defense ministry, the joint inspection team is made up of 10 people from each side,... including military and maritime officials, and civil waterway experts.
The defense ministry also said.... it plans to complete the field survey of the 70 kilometer-long zone by the end of this year.
Once complete,... nautical charts on the estuaries will be provided to allow private ships to use the estuaries.
