National Assembly resumes interpellation session
  • 6 years ago
South Korea's National Assembly resumed its interpellation session today with rival lawmakers questioning top government ministers on issues related to foreign affairs and security.
Some issues brought up so far include slow progress towards denuclearization on the Korean peninsula,... ,... as well as the parliamentary ratification of the joint declaration reached between the two Koreas at the Panmunjeom summit in April.
The ruling party wants to ratify the agreement as soon as possible to ensure the promises can be smoothly implemented,... while the conservative opposition says progress on denuclearization must come first.
The parliamentary questioning session initially kicked off in September,... but three of the four sessions were postponed as they overlapped with the inter-Korean summit in Pyeongyang and the opening of the joint liaison office in Gaeseong.
