Typhoon Mangkhut smashed into Hong Kong on Sunday, September 16, packing wind gusts of over 230km/h. The Hong Kong Observatory issued a No 10 signal, the highest on its typhoon alert scale, and urged people to stay indoors and away from windows. The storm uprooted trees, blew in windows and caused flooding in various parts of the city. Transport ground to a halt, with flights, bus, trains and ferry services delayed or canceled.
