Typhoon Mangkhut battered Hong Kong on Sunday with high winds and heavy rains.

It is the most severe storm to hit the city since records began, according to local authorities.

This clip was taken on Pok Fu Lam Road by the student residences at the University of Hong Kong.

The storm weakened overnight but was still a severe typhoon, with gusts of up to 160 miles an hour, according to local authorities.

Trees were downed, windows shattered and hundreds of flights were cancelled.
