Severe Typhoon Mangkhut brought Hong Kong to a standstill on Sunday, September 16, lashing the city with heavy downpours and winds as high as 250 km/h.

This video, filmed outside a housing estate inTai Wai, New Territories, shows workers clearing the road of trees that had collapsed during the storm.

According to local media, more than 1,000 sections of road have been blocked off by trees or debris, causing major disruption to transport. Hundreds of buses have been cancelled or rerouted, with ferry services suspended.

Nearly 40,000 customers suffered blackouts and power when the storm struck, and school remained closed on Monday and Tuesday.
