Constitutional Court says collecting DNA samples of criminals without their permission is unconstitutional

The Constitutional Court of Korea has said collecting DNA samples of criminals without their permission is unconstitutional.
Last Thursday, the court ruled that the current DNA law that allows prosecutors to file for a warrant to collect DNA samples of those found guilty of crimes is unconstitutional... because those criminals do not have a say in the issuance process or a chance to raise an objection after the warrant is issued.
The court has told the National Assembly to amend the law by the end of next year.
The law came into effect in 2010 to help prevent a reoccurrence of crimes such as homicide, rape and arson.
