BMW 520d sedan catches fire in South Korea despite passing safety check
  • 6 years ago
Yet another BMW in South Korea has caught fire,... this despite the car in question PASSING the German automaker's safety checks.
As you'd imagine, this latest development has sparked even greater concerns among the public as BMW tries to get a handle on the situation.
The fire broke out in the BMW 520d sedan slightly before 5PM on Monday as it traveled on a highway in the city of Mungyeong , some 150 kilometers southeast of Seoul.
The car burst into flames despite passing the required safety check two weeks ago.
BMW's local unit has yet to comment on the incident.
However,... BMW Korea says it hopes to complete its massive recall process -- which officially started on Monday -- within this year.
More than 30 BMWs have caught fire in South Korea in recent months due to a problem affecting the exhaust gas recirculation component in the vehicles.
