Following on from that story.
The two Koreas' joint railway project is likely to remain in limbo for the time being,... or at least as long as U.S. sanctions against the regime are in effect.
Voice of America reported Wednesday... the State Department once again reiterated that "sanctions will remain in place until Pyongyang's nuclear weapons are no longer a factor".
This comes as a South Korean lawmaker said in an interview last week... that it's difficult to carry on with the joint railway project as the U.S. is maintaining maximum pressure on Pyongyang.
The joint inter-Korean railway project was part of the agreement reached in June between Seoul and Pyongyang.
But only rail line inspections have been done so far, as technology transfers or direct economic investments across the border are banned.
