State Department hints inter-Korean railway projects must wait until Pyongyang's denuclearization: VOA

미 국무부 "남북 철도 연결 사업, 북 비핵화 전까진 안 돼"

The two Koreas' joint railway project is likely to be stalled for the time being,... or as long as U.S. sanctions against the regime are in effect.
VOA reported Wednesday... the State Department once again reiterated that "sanctions will remain in place until Pyongyang's nukes are no longer a factor".
This comes as a South Korean lawmaker said in an interview with the Washington Post last week... that it's difficult to carry on with the joint railway project as Washington is maintaining maximum pressure on Pyongyang.
The joint inter-Korean railway project was part of the agreement reached in June between Seoul and Pyongyang.
But only rail line inspections have been done so far, as technology transfers or direct economic investments across the border are banned.
