President Moon swears in Min Gab-ryong as new nat'l police chief

President Moon Jae-in formally appointed, Min Gab-ryong as head of the national police.
The South Korean leader congratulated the deputy police commissioner on his promotion, and asked him to carry out the tasks at hand... including the re-allocation of investigative power from the prosecution to the police... and the establishment of a municipal police system.
Min was approved by parliament this morning after a confirmation hearing.
He is the first police chief to be appointed by the current Administration.
The nation's top office described Min as someone with a high level of understanding of the administration's security policies, having worked alongside his predecessor for months.
