A youth football team that went missing in a cave in Thailand have been found.
Along with their coach, the boys survived nine days in the dark.
The real challenge now is rescueing them out, safely.
It's going to be a long process, involving food supplies, water pumps and diving lessons.
Kan Hyeong-woo zooms in on the complexity of the situation.

After 9 days of being trapped in a cave in Thailand, 12 boys and their football coach have been found alive. But the challenge now is how to get them out of the cave safely.

Thai military officials have said that it could take several months to get everyone out of the cave complex, and they are preparing to deliver long-term food supplies to the boys and their coach.

Although engineers have been pumping water out of the cave and a temporary respite from the rains has helped lower water levels, heavy precipitation is expected in the coming days,... which could hinder rescue efforts and extend the boys' time underground.

The option to bring them out through the submerged tunnels would be the quickest way but it is also the most dangerous... as none of the boys can swim or dive. Even professional divers need several hours to just get to the trapped group from the entrance.

Drilling is another option to free the boys but to begin the process, new roads would have to be built above the caves to bring in heavy drilling equipment. Without knowing everything about the caves, the chance of digging a hole in a right place for the rescue plan is considered very low.

So it is difficult to get the boys out of the caves as of now. But Thai officials say that none of the trapped group are in a critical state.

"Yesterday we evaluated the health situation unofficially. The majority of the kids are in the green. There may be some kids with minor injuries so they may be at the yellow level . But we can confirm that none of the kids are at the red level."

The boys, aged between 11 and 16, went missing with their football coach on June 23rd after they tried to explore the Tham Luang cave complex in Chiang Rai.
