The official campaigning period for the June 13th local elections kicks off on Thursday.
With exactly two weeks left until Koreans head to the polls,... rival parties are pulling out all the stops in a bid to woo voters.
Koreans will choose the mayors, governors, chiefs of local councils and education superintendents who will represent them for the next four years.
It's the first nationwide election under the Moon Jae-in administration -- meaning the results will serve as a barometer of public sentiment towards the government.
The ruling Democratic Party of Korea is seeking a landslide victory buoyed by the high approval rating of the Moon administration and the party.
By-elections will also be held in twelve districts nationwide.
